Ram Fest

[ Objective | Re-Cap | Point Breakdown ]

OBJECTIVE:
$25,000 for your vehicle, plus $1000 for the crew.  You get 1 point for each ram, multiplied by your speed.  You only get points if the front of your car is invloved in the collision, regardless of how it happened.  Head-on collisons award points to both drivers.  Weapons fire is allowed (including dropped weapons), and you get 1 point for every FULL 6 points of damage dealt.  5 points of weapons' fire damage gets you nothing, and 11 points are the same as 6.  If you want to take away from armor to mount a bigger gun, be my guest.  Just remember ramming is the name of the game.

The only exception is out-of vehicle combat yields 1 point for every 2 FULL points of damage you deal!!!  Extra crew members may start outside of your vehicle, armed to the teeth!  And standard points if you kill a car, or are killed.

This will be an open air arena, with a dirt surface.  Plan accordingly. Rain could be VERY messy.  We will use local Pittsburgh weather.

RE-CAP:
The players were:

  • Steve Caldwell - Silver Car
  • Don McCalmon - Black Stock Car
  • Dan Cetorelli - Yellow Hot Rod
  • Jim Robertson - Black Lambourghini
  • Ralph McConnell - Red Station Wagon
  • Mike DeSensi - Yellow Vette
  • Dave Hartman - Light Blue Vette

This month's event scored points for damaging your opponents. The more the better. Rams were especially valuable, so most of our combatants drove in sporting shiny new ramplates. They weren't shiny for long. Mike and Steve were the first to exchange fire - trading rocket fire near the center of the arena. The impact of the rockets caused Steve's car to go into a fishtail, preventing both drivers from avoiding a head-on collision. Ramplates were of no help, as both drivers were killed by the impact.

Jim charged past Steve and Mike's wreckage and headed toward Don's side... hoping for a tasty T-bone. Don cancelled the order by turning straight into Jim's oncoming vehicle. Left with little recourse, Jim hit the gas and prayed. The resulting collision left both cars heavily damaged but still operable. Dan sought to change that. He sped toward the two cars, building up momentum as he went. His speedometer topped 70 mph as he slammed head-on into Don, destroying his engine. The collision did little to slow Dan down, and his vehicle pushed Jim and Don out of his way.

Feeling left out, Ralph decided it was time to make his presence known. Following Dan's path of destruction, his little red station wagon caught up with Jim's Lambourghini. Lacking the courage of a real autoduellist, Ralph took a pot shot at Jim's tire before tapping him from behind.

Angered by Ralph's cowardly display, Dave rammed into his tailgate at high speed. Ralph's armor crumpled under the impact and his driver was killed. Dave drove on past the Ralph's remains and took up hot pursuit of Jim's nearly crippled vehicle. In a futile attempt to escape, Jim took a dangerous turn around a wall, but lost control in the process. The resulting spin-out sent him into the outside wall.

Unable to follow Jim through the turn, Dave continued in a wider arc, only to fall into the waiting jaws of Dan's pickup. Having already tasted blood once, the pickup's ramplate bit into the side of Dave's vehicle, killing its driver and disabling the vehicle. That left only Dan and Jim with operational vehicles. Since both were weaponless and heavily damaged, they agreed to call the event with Dan taking the victory.
